The online MFD Part 2 consists of one 90 minute assessment with: 15 OSCE / Clinical Scenario based questions where you will enter your responses online.

What is the pass mark for MFDS Part 1?

There is no fixed ‘pass mark’ for every year so comparison is difficult. There is a five-year timeframe to complete both parts of the exam. You may attempt Part 1 a maximum of six times and Part 2 a maximum of four times. Exam results are usually released around 3 weeks after the exam.

Despite sitting MJDF part one, I could still opt to sit MFDS part two. I chose to do this due to the timings of the exam as well as preferring the format of MFDS. The exam was held at London (despite being the Glasgow college holding the exam) and so was very easy for me to get to!

What experience do you need for MFDs Part 2?

Having passed MFDS Part 1 or an equivalent exempting qualification, at the time of applying for MFDS Part 2. Completion of a minimum of 12 months full-time postgraduate experience in clinical dentistry. Normally, equivalent part-time experience will be acceptable if gained within a period of four years.
