What is CALPROFEN for?
Usage. Our CALPROFEN® Suspension contains ibuprofen, which starts to work on a fever in just 15 minutes and lasts for up to 8 hours. It can be used for pain relief, to reduce your child’s temperature, and to relieve the symptoms of cold and flu. Each pack comes with an easy dose syringe.
Is CALPROFEN the same as Nurofen?

How do you take CALPROFEN?
2.5 ml three times a day. Doses should be taken every 6 – 8 hours when required, and at least 4 hours should be left between doses. Post-immunisation fever: 2.5 ml (50 mg) followed by one further dose of 2.5 ml (50mg) six hours later if necessary.
Is CALPROFEN paracetamol?
CALPROFEN® contains ibuprofen – it does not contain paracetamol.
When should I take CALPROFEN?
It is used for the relief of:
- Fever (raised temperature)
- Post-immunisation fever.
- Teething and toothache.
- Colds and influenza symptoms.
- Sore throat.
- Headache.
- Minor muscular aches and pains.
Can adults take CALPROFEN?
It can be taken by adults and by children over the age of 3 months. Ibuprofen works by blocking the effect of natural chemicals called cyclo-oxygenase (COX) enzymes. These enzymes help to make other chemicals in the body, called prostaglandins.
Can you take calpol and CALPROFEN together?
Paracetamol and ibuprofen can be given together, but you can stagger them so that every few hours, if needed, the child can have some medication. For example, you can give paracetamol at 8am, ibuprofen at 11am and paracetamol again at 2pm (i.e. six hours after the first dose of paracetamol).

Can you give CALPROFEN on an empty stomach?
You can eat and drink normally while taking any type of ibuprofen. It’s best to take ibuprofen tablets, capsules, granules or liquid with a meal so it does not upset your stomach. Do not take it on an empty stomach.
