Does DistroKid have publishing royalties?
DistroKid does not collect any publishing royalties, which are generated by compositions. A composition refers to the lyrics and notes of a song. Recording royalties encompass those generated from reproduction rights, synchronization rights, and performance rights.
Does DistroKid give you 100% royalties?
DistroKid does not take a percentage of your earnings. You keep 100% of your earnings, however, there may be banking fees, taxes, and PayPal transfer fees when you withdraw your money.
What royalties does DistroKid pay?
We keep 20% of the revenue from YouTube videos that we find, and send you the rest (80%). But you still keep the money you earn from streaming services and music stores like iTunes, Spotify etc. You always keep 100% of that, minus banking fees/applicable taxes.

DistroKid does not copyright your music for you or register your songs for copyright, DistroKid simply distributes your music. DistroKid also does not register your music with any publishers or performance rights organizations.

We don’t yet offer admin publishing services. However, many DistroKid artists use SongTrust for publishing admin, and we love it! We’re working on a publishing admin system for artists.
Do producers get paid from DistroKid?
DistroKid can split earnings from any song or album, and automatically send those earnings to other DistroKid users. Add your collaborators, producers, bandmates, managers and more. We’ll pay them directly, so you don’t have to think about it.
Does DistroKid handle mechanical royalties?
Distrokid and other similar services are only for distribution and collect mechanical royalties for digital streams and sales.
Who pays more UnitedMasters or DistroKid?
Between DistroKid and UnitedMasters, DistroKid is better because their membership fees are less and they do not take a share of your royalty money. UnitedMasters does have a “free” option; however, they take 10% of your streaming money and give you very limited features.
What is the catch with DistroKid?
Instead of having to manually split payment, they will automatically do it for you! The only catch is that to get paid, everybody on your team has to be a member of DistroKid. However, DistroKid makes it easier for them by offering a 50% discount code to sign up. Consequently, it’ll cost them as little as $10 a year.
