What is a Title 31 Audit?

Title 31 of the Bank Secrecy Act requires all casinos who have a gross annual gaming revenue of at least $1 million to draft and implement a written training program that ensures compliance with the law’s anti-money laundering regulations.

What report must be filed if a player withdraws more than $10000 in cash or equivalent from their Igaming account?

Answer 6: A casino is required to file a CTRC on currency transactions by or on behalf of any customer that, alone or when aggregated, exceed $10,000 in a gaming day.

Do casinos file Ctrs?

Currency Transaction Report (CTR), must be filed by casinos to report each transaction in currency involving cash-in and cash-out of more than $10,000 in a gaming day (31 CFR 1021.311).

What is used to track single and multiple cash transactions?

Single and multiple currency transactions in excess of $10,000 (in a single Gaming Day) are reported to the IRS. To track multiple transactions, many casinos record transactions as low as $3,000 (and lower) to ensure that they remain compliant with the CTR requirements.

What triggers suspicious activity report?

If potential money laundering or violations of the BSA are detected, a report is required. Computer hacking and customers operating an unlicensed money services business also trigger an action. Once potential criminal activity is detected, the SAR must be filed within 30 days.

What triggers a CTR?

The reporting requirement for a CTR is triggered when a bank customer initiates a transaction of more than $10,000, not when they complete it. If a bank customer refuses the transaction or modifies it to fall below the threshold, the bank employee is required to file a suspicious activity report.

What is the riskiest stage of money laundering process?

Placement
Placement can take place via cash deposit, wire transfer, check, money order, or other methods. This represents the most dangerous step for the criminal, as the government is always looking to account for such large deposits. The second step is layering.
