How do you become a local one?
Apprentice Program
- Must be a minimum of 18 years of age.
- Physically able to perform the work of the trade.
- Have a reading, writing, understanding and communication ability in the English language.
- Minimum 10th grade education.
- Possess a social security card.
- Possess a valid driver’s license.
What is the Local 1 Union?
About us. Public Employees Union, Local 1 was founded in 1941 as the Contra Costa County Employees Association. As a public employees’ organization, Local 1 made history by being a pioneer of workers’ rights before government workers in California had the right to collectively bargain.
