What is Fitz-Hugh-Curtis syndrome?
Fitz-Hugh-Curtis syndrome is a rare disorder that occurs almost exclusively in women. It is characterized by inflammation of the membrane lining the stomach (peritoneum) and the tissues surrounding the liver (perihepatitis).
What is peri hepatitis?
Perihepatitis occurs as a complication of PID when inflammation spreads to the liver capsule and adjacent peritoneum. It presents as moderate to severe pleuritic right upper quadrant (RUQ) pain, which may be referred to the right shoulder, and can be associated with fever, chills, nausea, and vomiting.
