How long should a 5K run take beginner?

Average for beginners If you run a mile about every 8 minutes, you can count on your 5K time being under or around 25 minutes. However, this isn’t easily achievable for many people, so beginners should aim to run a mile in about 9 to 13 minutes. Set up a fitness plan that builds up over a few weeks or months.

How long does it take the average person to train for a 5K?

Once you sign up and pay for your spot, you know it’s time to start training. A typical couch to 5k plan lasts for 9 weeks. If you’re starting out at an intermediate level, you can plan for 4-8 weeks. Just don’t cut your training short.

Can I do couch to 5K in 4 weeks?

The original plan, as well as the NHS Couch to 5K, takes 9 weeks. But it really depends on the program you choose – once you start looking online you can find plans to suit a variety of timelines and abilities. Later in this post, I share our two recommended Couch to 5k Plans: 4 weeks and 8 weeks.
