What is a cap bearing?

Bearing caps contain the main bearings of an engine’s crankshaft. As part of their required processing, bearing caps must undergo a tough splitting operation, requiring strong and stable operations.

What is a Hubstack yoyo?

The Hubstack is Yoyo Factories newest performance plastic yoyo. It has been designed for all skill levels. For years, we have dreamed of a yoyo that offers the benefits of hubstack technology in a form that any yoyo player can use, affordable cost, responsive performance, and a new and improved shape.

What is a bearing cap in a differential?

A bearing cap retains each of the bearings in the differential carrier. The bearing cap comprises two upstanding opposed sidewall members. A web member extends therebetween. The web member has an arcuate midsection which forms a bearing recess on its inner surface.

Can you drive without wheel bearing dust cap?

Grease caps protect your wheel bearings from the dirt, dust, sand, water, salt and road grime that can (and will) destroy bearings. Without grease caps, your wheel bearings simply wouldn’t survive for very long out on the road.

What are main bearings in an engine?

In a piston engine, the main bearings are the bearings which hold the crankshaft in place and allow it to rotate within the engine block.

What is side bearing preload?

Differentials: Side Bearings Proper preload keeps the case from wobbling inside the carrier and adjusts backlash between the ring and pinion gear. Side bearing preload adjustment is crucial to the differential’s operation.

What is a side bearing?

Definition of side bearing : the space provided at each side of a typeset letter to prevent its touching adjoining letters.

Do you need the wheel bearing cap?

Without grease caps, your wheel bearings simply wouldn’t survive for very long out on the road. Bearings require constant lubrication to remain effective. Thick bearing grease is packed all around the wheel bearings every time they’re replaced or even when they’re removed for wheel hub or axle service.

What causes main bearings to fail?

Most of engine bearing failures are caused by one of the two factors: – Mixed lubrication with direct metal-to-metal contact between the bearing and crankshaft surfaces; – Fatigue of the bearing material. Mixed lubrication is one of the main causes of engine bearing failures.

What is preload and backlash?

For best results, preload should be measured without the seals, and either before the pinion is installed or before the ring gear is installed on the differential. Backlash is the amount of space between the teeth of the pinion gear and the ring gear.

What is slide bearing?

Sliding bearings are bearings where only sliding friction is generated. The shaft is generally supported by the sliding surface, with oil and air in between to facilitate sliding movement. Sliding bearings are lightweight and have a long operating life while introducing minimal vibrations or noise.

Do you need a dust cap on wheel bearings?

What does a dust cap do?

Tyre valves control the airflow in and out of your tyres, maintaining their pressure and performance. Dust caps, or valve caps, are placed over the end of these valves to prevent dirt, moisture or debris from entering the valve – saving it from damage and other issues.
