How do you pierce an outie bellybutton?

Take a piercing-safe marker and mark the spot you intend to pierce. You can only pierce the upper or lower lip of your outie, not the actual outie. Pinch the outie on the marked spot with your piercing clamp. Slide the piercing clamp over the outie lip and pinch down.

Can all belly buttons be pierced?

However, it’s important to note that not everyone can get a belly button piercing. Because they are very anatomy dependent, some piercers may deny you service or suggest a different type of belly button piercing (like a floating navel piercing) or location over the traditional style and placement.

Can a plus size person get a belly button piercing?

The location of your navel is probably the most important factor when considering a belly button piercing if you are plus size lady. You want to make sure that your belly button is exposed (so not hidden beneath a tummy roll when you stand up or sit down) since you need air exposure for the piercing to heal.

Do you have to have an innie to get your belly button pierced?

Innie belly buttons are much more common than outies. But most of the time, outie formation is simply luck of the draw. A few exceptions exist, though. Babies with certain medical conditions that affect the belly button are more likely to have outies.

Why do I have an outie?

Most people who have an “outie” fall into one of two categories: either they were born with a tiny umbilical hernia, which is most likely, or had a small infection at the base of the umbilical cord that went unnoticed. This will cause unusual tissue called granulation tissue to form.

Can you change your outie to an innie?

Umbilicoplasty is the plastic surgery procedure that can reshape both the innie and outie belly button, although it also can be reshaped during a tummy tuck. Outie-to-innie surgery often allows people to be more comfortable with their bodies and boosts a patient’s self-confidence and self-esteem.

Can an outie get a piercing?

You can have an outie and still have enough skin to accommodate a navel piercing above your nub — which is the most common placement for a navel piercing — or just below it.

Do Outies disappear?

If a child is born with an “outie” belly button, there is a 90 percent chance that it will close on its own by the time the child turns 5 years old. However, if the defect is not closed by age 5, the chances are much less that it will ever close completely.

Why do people have Outies?

Most people end up with innies, but some people have outies. Outies usually occur when more of the umbilical cord is left when it’s cut, leading to more skin left over once it dries out. In some rare cases, outies are caused by a condition known as an umbilical hernia.

Can you get rid of outie?

An outie belly button is a cosmetic issue and doesn’t require surgery. Granulomas need to be treated to avoid infection. Hernias usually disappear on their own and those that don’t can be treated with a simple surgical procedure after the age of 4 or 5.
