Who is Parvin State Park named after?
In 1796, Lemuel Parvin settled in what is now the park and dammed the Muddy Run stream to power a sawmill, thus creating Parvin Lake. In 1930, the state of New Jersey bought 918 acres of land in what is now the park, and from 1933 to 1941 the Civilian Conservation Corps developed the park.
Can you kayak on Mercer Lake NJ?
Mercer Lake A FREE boat ramp here for launching small boats, and it’s also offering one-hour kayak rentals this summer. On the lake, you can visit some of Mercer’s greatest inhabitants, such as blue herons, beavers, turtles, Canada geese, dragonflies, and more.
Can you bring your own kayak to Overpeck Park?
There’s a public boat launch, which I love, but you don’t need to BYOB (bring your own boat). Overpeck Park Kayak Center offers affordable rentals and is open from late April-October. While rentals are daytime only and you must bring a buddy, there are special sunset and group paddles available.

Can I bring my dog on a train or bus? Only service animals accompanying customers with disabilities or their trainers, police dogs, and small pets in carry-on travel cages are allowed on-board NJ TRANSIT trains, buses and light rail vehicles.
