Is Mcla a good college?

In 2021, MCLA was ranked #9 on the list of Top Public Colleges, and appeared in the top 50 National Liberal Arts Colleges for social mobility.

Is MCLA public or private?

Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts is a public institution that was founded in 1894. It has a total undergraduate enrollment of 1,076 (fall 2020), its setting is rural, and the campus size is 105 acres.

Like NCAA Division III, MCLA programs do not offer athletic scholarship money. However, need-based and academic money is most definitely available to those who qualify. The National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) grants 20 full scholarships per college for both women and men.

In regards to recruiting, the elite MCLA clubs do recruit to a degree, but obviously not at the same level as most NCAA schools.

The MCLA is competitive. Teams play to win. This isn’t a beer league where everyone gets equal playing time. During the season, coaches will stick with playing their top lines as much as possible and definitely will only play their #1 goalie.

The MCLA is extremely competitive. On any given MCLA Division 1 team you’ll see players who have serious talent. Players who could easily make NCAA Division 1 teams.

Is D3 lacrosse better than D2?

D2 teams are only ahead of D3 because of funding, in that only D1 and D2 offer scholarships, not very much mind you, but the NCAA bases it off of that. But, D2 has less skill between the teams (comparatively) to D3 because many more schools can afford D3 teams as they don’t have scholarships to use.

Can you get recruited for MCLA lacrosse?

It’s possible. Many MCLA teams, given their lack of depth, are in need of players who are 1.) athletes and 2.) have the right attitude. There are some MCLA teams that are stacked.

Does MCLA require SAT?

MCLA is waiving the SAT/ACT testing requirement for applicants for fall 2022, and we will be piloting a test-blind (test-free) policy for fall 2022 applicants. National and institutional data point to high school work being indicative of student success in college and a more equitable means of assessment.

Athletics. MCLA has 13 varsity sports. The college’s varsity teams compete in the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) at the NCAA Division III level in the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC).
