What is Orfs for O-ring?

As the name implies, O-ring Face Seal (ORFS) fittings incorporate an O-ring at the face of the fitting and are designed to eliminate leaks in high pressure hydraulic systems.

What is a VCO fitting?

VCO® O-Ring Face Seal Fittings are engineered for rapid assembly in pipe, tube, and welded systems for general industry, high-pressure, high-purity, and critical vacuum applications. Sealing is accomplished with a captive O-ring in the fitting body, available in a variety of materials.

Where are face seals used?

Face seals are typically used in static applications and are used to prevent leakage in the radial direction with respect to the axis of the seal. Face seals are often located in a groove or cavity on a flange.

How does a face seal work?

How Do Mechanical Seals Work? At the heart of why a mechanical seal works lies the rotating and stationary seal faces. Seal faces are lapped so flat it is impossible for a liquid or gas to flow through them. This allows for a shaft to spin, while a seal is being maintained mechanically.

What does Orfs mean?

In molecular biology, open reading frames (ORFs) are defined as spans of DNA sequence between the start and stop codons.

What O rings are best for hydraulics?

Nitrile (Buna-N) O-rings Nitrile O-rings, which have a temperature range between -54 and 149 degrees Celsius, are suitable for use with water, petroleum oils and some hydraulic fluids.

How do you stop a hydraulic fitting from leaking?

Use Reliable Connectors Connectors which incorporate an elastomeric seal such as UN-O-ring, BSPP, ORFS and SAE four-bolt flange offer far superior seal reliability. So for leak-free reliability, replace pipe-thread connectors with a type that incorporates an elastomeric seal, if possible.

What does VCO stand for Swagelok?

VCR means vacuum coupling radiation, providing leak-tight service from vacuum to positive pressure. The VCO line uses an O-ring to form a seal.

When would you use a VCR fitting?

VCR® fittings are particularly useful for applications where gas lines must be heated to maintain a volatile component in vapor form or when the tubing must be baked to remove internal contamination. VCR® fittings can be baked to at least 250° C.

How do face seals work?

A face seal is a seal in which the sealing surfaces are normal to the axis of the seal. Face seals are typically used in static applications and are used to prevent leakage in the radial direction with respect to the axis of the seal. Face seals are often located in a groove or cavity on a flange.

How does a mechanical face seal work?

What are the essential requirements in an end face seal?

All end-face mechanical seals have both rotating elements and stationary elements and include five basic components:

  • seal ring.
  • mating ring.
  • secondary sealing elements.
  • springs.
  • hardware.

What keeps the two faces of a mechanical seal together?

The seal faces are pushed together using a combination of hydraulic force from the sealed fluid and spring force from the seal design. In this way a seal is formed to prevent process leaking between the rotating (shaft) and stationary areas of the pump.

What are Orb fittings?

What are ORB Fittings? ORB, or (SAE Straight Thread O-ring Boss) fittings, incorporate a port connection as recommended by the National Fire Protection Association (N.F.P.A.) for leak prevention in medium and high pressure hydraulic systems.

What does JIC fitting stand for?

Joint Industry Council
JIC (or Joint Industry Council) fittings, defined by SAE J514, are compression fittings machined with a 37 degree flare seating surface and parallel threads. They are commonly manufactured in nickel alloys, brass, carbon & stainless steel.

What is an O ring face seal adapter?

O-ring face seal adapter fittings use a straight thread and have a machined groove in the face of the male fitting to accept an O ring (of either Buna N or Viton material). This O-ring is compressed against the flat face of the female fitting for a leak proof connection.

Why choose our O-ring face seal fittings?

Our high-quality O-ring face seal fittings are highly reliable to help prevent component failure and can be easily disassembled and reassembled to replace O-rings or system components. Review our wide range of fittings as you consider which styles are best for you.

Why do hydraulic fittings have O rings?

They are also the preferred connection in high vibration systems because the soft O-ring seal absorbs shock better than any metal-to-metal sealed fittings. While hydraulic connections that incorporate an O-ring face seal are the most reliable against leakage, it can still happen. Yet the cause is rarely the fitting itself.

How do you attach a tube adapter to an O ring?

Tube adapters sit flush against the flat face of an O-ring face seal fitting so you can slide the tubing and fitting sideways to disconnect in cramped spaces. To install, weld a tube adapter to the tubing with a brazing ring, then mate the tube adapter to an O-ring face seal fitting and screw on the nut.
