How did Ninja Turtles get their weapons?
Master Splinter intentionally gave the turtles weapons opposite to their individual personalities. Raphael is the most hot-headed and violent of the turtles. He wields sais, a traditionally defensive weapon used in peace-keeping. This is to teach him patience and discipline.
