Do all car seats fit ISOFIX bases?
This depends on which car seat you have. The majority of infant carriers tend to fit in with a seat belt as well as ISOFIX, whereas some car seats aren’t ISOFIX compatible at all. In short, if your car seat has the option to fit in with a seat belt then no, you don’t need an ISOFIX base.
Are all ISOFIX bases compatible?
Bases can only be used with the car seat of the same brand that it is stated to be compatible with in the manual. Not all ISOfix bases are the same. Some connect with a Top Tether, some with a support leg and some with no third point at all.
Is ISOFIX safer?
Independent tests show that ISOFIX mounted seats are extremely safe. Rather than relying on a belt, the car seat is fixed directly to the child seat base. That means there’s less movement in the seat in the event of an accident, particularly a side on impact. The real advantage to ISOFIX is that it’s so simple to fit.

Do all Britax car seats use the same base?
Britax infant car seats come with a base, but having a second is great for two-car families. This allows you to leave one base in each car, and then transfer just the car seat between the two. This base is compatible with all Britax infant car seats.
