Is Velvia still made?

On July 6, 2021, Fujifilm announced the discontinuation of Velvia 100 within the United States, effective immediately.

Instead of negatives and prints, reversal film is processed to produce transparencies or diapositives (abbreviated as “diafilm” or “dia” in some languages like German or Hungarian).

Why is Velvia 50 out of stock?

This was a move to reduce costs and due to the on-going crisis for chemicals and modern regulations Fujifilm decided to discontinue production and sales of these films. Those 20 sheet packs of 4 x 5″ Velvia 50 from Fujifilm will certainly be missed by many.

Is Ektachrome better than Kodachrome?

High Speed Ektachrome, announced in 1959 provided an ASA 160 color film, which was much faster than Kodachrome. In 1968, Kodak started offering push processing of this film, allowing it to be used at ASA 400.

Can you still get slide film developed?

No matter what type of film requires developing, you can bring it to your local CVS Photo location for processing. Services include processing for 35mm film, disposable cameras, Advanced Photo System film, black and white film, 110 film and slide film.

Can you freeze film?

If you buy in bulk or taking a photography break, use the freezer (-18°C / 0°F or lower) for periods over six months. Storing film in the freezer puts it into hibernation. For best results and to protect against humidity, it’s recommended you should store film unopened and in its original canister.
