Does HLA-DP present antigen?

The class 2 alleles HLA-DQ and HLA-DR and to a lesser extent HLA-DP are the most important determinants of the underlying disorder of APS-2 and encode the Major Histocompatibility Complex class 11 proteins located on the antigen presenting cells.

What is HLA-DP DQ DR?

HLA-DR, HLA-DP, and HLA-DQ are heterodimeric cell surface glycoproteins comprised of an α (heavy) chain and a β (light) chain. They are expressed on B cells, activated T cells, monocytes/macrophages, dendritic cells, and other non-professional APCs.

For HLA-DR, most variability comes from DRB, with >700 known alleles at population level, whereas there are only three DRA variants. In contrast, both chains of HLA-DQ and -DP are polymorphic (2).
