What is meant by SDTM?

Study Data Tabulation Model (SDTM) defines a standard structure for human clinical trial (study) data tabulations and for non-clinical study data tabulations, that are to be submitted as part of a product application, to a regulatory authority such as the United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA).

What is the purpose of SDTM?

Prepared by the Submission Data Standards (SDS) team of the Clinical Data Interchange Standards Consortium (CDISC), the purpose of SDTM is to organize, structure and format standard clinical trial tabulation datasets submitted to regulatory authorities such as the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA).

What is SDTM in SAS?

Study Data Tabulation Model (SDTM) is one of the standards which provides a standard for streamlined data in collection, management, analysis and reporting.

What are the core variables in SDTM?

Core variables are a measure of compliance with the specific SDTM-IG domain model. The value of a core variable shows the importance of the variable to the overall domain structure. Variables are divided into 3 categories: Required variables are needed to identify a data record, e.g STUDYID, and USUBJID.

What is SDTM programmer?

Another task of the DM programmer is to transform the data from its raw format into a standard format. This standard format could be the CDISC Study Data Tabulation Model (SDTM) that is requested by regulatory agencies such as the FDA for submission of a new compound, or it could be a sponsor’s own standards.

What is metadata in SDTM?

metadata: Domain Class, Domain Prefix, Variable Name, Variable Label, Type, Role and Core. The main sources for the additional information are the SDTM model and the SDTM IG, and text held within the eSHARE file which corresponds to text in the IG (see Table 4, CDISC Notes).

How do I become a clinical SAS Programmer?

The qualifications for a career as a SAS clinical programmer are a bachelor’s degree in statistics or computer science and experience in the pharmaceutical or clinical industries. You must develop strong SAS technical skills and problem-solving skills to succeed in a career as a SAS clinical programmer.

What is SE domain in SDTM?

SE is a special purpose SDTM domain containing one record per subject per study element. Its purpose is to describe the study elements that a subject participated in during the study and the dates associated with those elements.

What is SDTM mapping?

One of the most challenging programming problems in a clinical trial involves SDTM mapping. That is mapping datasets from a non-CDISC structure to the CDISC SDTM structure.

How many domains are there in SAS?

Within the host environment, SAS Open Metadata Architecture, and SAS Integration Technologies security, there are two types of domains used in basic security implementations. In addition, there is a third type of domain that is used for alternate authentication providers.

What is element and epoch in SDTM?

An epoch is easy to confuse with an element but is a little less specific, than is an element, on what is happening to the subject. An epoch is similar to an element but is a characteristic of the trial as a whole (not of an arm) and therefore particularly useful in describing blinded studies.

What is epoch variable in SDTM?

What is the EPOCH Variable. The EPOCH variable specifies what phase of the study data corresponds with. Including accurate EPOCH data allows the reviewer to easily determine which phase of the study the observation or the event occurred, as well as the intervention the subject experienced during that phase.

How many classes are there in SDTM?

The first of the blocks, the Data Class, describes the datasets or domains within the SDTM. These are categorized into 6 classes; see Figure 3, which gives a description of the class, along with some examples.
