What is DbUnit?

DbUnit is a JUnit extension (also usable with Ant) targeted at database-driven projects that, among other things, puts your database into a known state between test runs.

How do I unit test a stored procedure in SQL?

A typical SQL unit testing scenario is as follows:

  1. Create a database object to meet some business requirement.
  2. Create a SQL unit test to check the database object.
  3. Run SQL unit test to check the database object does the job or not.
  4. If the test is passed then move on to the next SQL unit test.

Should you unit test SQL?

SQL unit testing plays a key role in the modern database development cycle because it allows us to test individual parts of the database objects work as expected. SQL unit testing adds a great worth to the database project because unit tests are more reliable then manual test methods.

What is tSQLt?

tSQLt is a unit testing framework for SQL Server. It provides the APIs to create and execute test cases, as well as integrates them with continuous integration servers (such as CruiseControl, TFS and Bamboo). tSQLt is designed with many unique features which make it easy to maintain tests.

What test is needed for Tsql?

regular T-SQL. SQL Test uses the open-source tSQLt framework, a set of T-SQL tables, views, stored procedures, and functions. SQL unit testing runs through simple queries which use the framework to check the values of your data types and to mock database objects.

Should you mock a database?

The purpose of unit testing is to verify the database-related code works and mocking the database would hinder the test. Mocking does indeed become useful when testing the business code. You can mock your database calls to return test data and verify the behavior of business logic in those circumstances.

How do you test a big query?

Unit tests in BigQuery (standard) SQL

  1. Create BigQuery object (dataset, table, UDF) to meet some business requirement.
  2. Create a SQL unit test to check the object.
  3. Run SQL unit test to check the object does the job or not.
  4. If the test is passed then move on to the next SQL unit test.

Can we automate database testing?

With increasing data complexities, heterogeneous environments and data sizes in terabytes, it is really difficult to form a testing strategy based on manual testing. In these cases, test automation can help perform data validation, schema verification, database health check, security checks, etc.

How do you automate a stored procedure in SQL?

In SQL Server, you should use JOBS to run a stored procedure based on schedule.

  1. Open SQL Server Management Studio.
  2. Expand SQL Serve Agent.
  3. Right-click on jobs and select a new job.
  4. Provide a name for the job and description.
  5. Click on the steps option> click new.
  6. Write the name of the step.
  7. Select the type of step.

Where is Transact SQL concept used?

T-SQL identifiers, meanwhile, are used in all databases, servers, and database objects in SQL Server. These include the following tables, constraints, stored procedures, views, columns and data types.

Should I mock DB in unit tests?

Mocking and stubbing are the cornerstones of having quick and simple unit tests. Mocks are useful if you have a dependency on an external system, file reading takes too long, the database connection is unreliable, or if you don’t want to send an email after every test.

Which is better Pytest or Unittest?

Which is better – pytest or unittest? Although both the frameworks are great for performing testing in python, pytest is easier to work with. The code in pytest is simple, compact, and efficient. For unittest, we will have to import modules, create a class and define the testing functions within that class.
