How long is Waioeka Gorge?
The highway hugs the edge of the Waioeka River, running through the reserve for 50 kilometres. There are numerous reserve entry points, picnic areas and viewing places. Recommended walking tracks include the Tauranga Track (3 hours), Mangapumarumaru Track (4 hours) or Manganuku Track (4 hours).

Is Taupo to Turangi road open?

Are rimutakas closed?
The 14km Remutaka Hill road on State Highway 2 will be closed for essential maintenance and slip prevention works on 29 nights from 9pm–4am between September 2021 and July 2022. The closures will include five block closures of five nights and four single Sunday night closures.
What happened on I-35 at SH 29?
Lengthy traffic delays are expected on Tuesday evening after reports of a bridge strike on Interstate 35 at State Highway 29. TxDOT first reported the incident around 5 p.m., saying that crews were hoping to have the lanes open soon. Northbound I-35 was reduced to a single lane. All lanes remained open after SH 29.
Why is State Highway 29 over the Kaimais closed?
The New Zealand Transport Agency (NZTA) is advising motorists that State Highway 29 over the Kaimais is closed due to the risk of rocks falling on the highway at the Ruahihi Bluffs (approximately 17km west of Tauranga near the Ruahihi Power Station).
Why is the Dorset Highway still closed?
Mr Gliddon says the highway will remain closed while contractors assess the stability of the rocks and motorists are being encouraged to use alternative routes and plan ahead to include the extra time required for their journeys.
