Can you camp on the beach in OBX?

Camping directly on the beaches of the OBX is not permitted, but there are many excellent campgrounds on the Outer Banks and in the surrounding coastal area. Most offer beach access or sound access.

Can you have tents on Carolina Beach?

Tents and canopies are allowed on the beach, but you must remove your equipment each night. Dogs are allowed on the beach strand but must be on a leash. Beer and wine are allowed on the beach for those of legal age.

Can you bring a tent on the beach?

Not only can camping tents be used on the beach, but they’re also probably the better option over beach tents, especially if you are planning on making it an overnight stay. Just remember to bring your sunscreen and properly prep your tent with UV spray, weight bags, and stakes to face the wind.

Beach equipment, such as tents, canopies, umbrellas, and volleyball nets, is not allowed to be left on the beach overnight – (between the hours of 7 p.m. and 8 a.m.) Sleeping or camping on the beach is prohibited.

Tents, chairs, umbrellas, and other beach equipment is not allowed within 15′ feet of the dune line. Visitors should stay off of the dunes, (expect on marked paths and walkways), and should not pick or remove vegetation from the oceanside dunes, such as sea oats.

Can you take a camping tent to the beach?

Although it’s possible to take a camping tent to the beach, you won’t get the same level of enjoyment as a proper beach tent. Beach tents are way easier to get in and out of because of their open design. And their UV resistance means they will last in the summer sun.

Can you park overnight at Kure Beach?

Parking is enforced April 1 – September 30 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Parking rates are $5 per hour. Visitors may purchase a day pass for $20, weekly pass for $100 or full season pass for $200.
