This morning Shades of Green, the Military Only Resort at Walt Disney World extended their projected re-opening date. UPDATE 5/19: Shades of Green has pushed back their reopening date again, from 1 June to 1 July 2020.

Active duty and retired military, as well as honorably discharged veterans* can stay at the Shades of Green (SOG) resort at Walt Disney World. Though not operated by Disney, this is a beautiful deluxe resort on Disney property, right across the street from Disney’s Polynesian Resort.

How many floors does Shades of Green have?
Shades of Green consists of one three-story and one five-story building nestled among three golf courses that are open to Disney guests. At 455 square feet each, the 586 guest rooms at Shades of Green are larger than those at the Grand Floridian.
Do shades of green rooms have microwaves?
Unfortunately, the standard rooms don’t have microwaves. That said, there is a common use microwave in the laundry room on the 3rd floor. (The Shades of Green website states the suites have microwaves available). To save time and money, we brought breakfast items to eat in the room before we hit the parks for the day.
Can you use Disney gift card at Shades of Green?
Unfortunately No. Disney gift cards are an internal company prepaid credit voucher and are only valid at Disney locations (at WDW, Disneyland, Disney S tore locations and online). Shades of Green and Base Ticket Offices are not part of the Disney company and so do not accept this form of payment.
