What is Ciena DWDM?

The Ciena MultiWaveTM product line is a dense wavelength division multiplexing (DWDM) system that is capable of transmitting up to sixteen (16) discrete optical channels over one fiber pair. Each channel is bit-rate transparent from 150 Mb/s to 2.4 Gb/s and operates with existing SONET/SDH/Asynch fiber optic terminals.

What is Ciena Roadm?

The ROADM enables the ability to adjust which wavelengths are added and dropped, and it can redirect wavelengths that are passing through the site. This architecture uses a fixed Channel Mux/Demux (CMD).

What does a Ciena 6500 do?

The 6500 Reconfigurable Line System (RLS) is a compact, simple-to-deploy, photonic layer solution that provides highly dense ROADM and amplifier configurations to improve scalability, reduce footprint, and offer more flexibility and programmability.

What is difference between switching and routing?

Router and Switch are both network connecting devices. Router works at network layer and is responsibe to find the shortest path for a packet whereas Switch connects various devices in a network. Router connects devices across multiple networks.

What is a routing platform?

The Intelligent Routing Platform adds intelligence to multi-homed routing decisions. It leverages the company’s existing infrastructure to deliver substantial network performance improvements, optimization of existing Internet connectivity and reduces the cost of operating the network.

What layer is OTN?

Optical Transport Network Layer The optical transport network (OTN) and WDM layers make up a generic Layer-1 transport network, enabling different service types to coexist and share the same infrastructure transparently, without affecting each other’s performance.

What is a Ciena 3903?

Ciena’s 3903 Service Delivery Switch (SDS) is an advanced Ethernet business demarcation platform in a compact form factor. The 3903 is designed for small and medium business applications requiring reliable GbE services that comply with the latest MEF CE2.

What does a Ciena 3916 do?

Ciena’s 3916 Service Delivery Switch is an advanced Carrier Ethernet demarcation device providing sophisticated Quality of Service (QoS) capabilities for Ethernet business service applications.

Can you connect a router to a switch?

Connect an Ethernet cable to one of the ports at the back of the switch, then connect the other end to one of the Ethernet ports at the back of the router.

What is BGP networking?

Border Gateway Protocol (BGP) refers to a gateway protocol that enables the internet to exchange routing information between autonomous systems (AS). As networks interact with each other, they need a way to communicate. This is accomplished through peering. BGP makes peering possible.

What does Oadm stand for?

An optical add-drop multiplexer (OADM) is a device used in wavelength-division multiplexing systems for multiplexing and routing different channels of light into or out of a single mode fiber (SMF).

What is Ciena 5100/5200?

5100/5200 for Enterprises product data sheet – Ciena The 5100 and 5200 are the leading convergence platforms for Wavelength Division Multiplexing (WDM) applications. The 5100 and 5200 are the leading convergence platforms for Wavelength Division Multiplexing (WDM) applications.
