What is RSSI and RSCP?

RSSI stands for received Signal Strength Indicator, measured in dBm. RSCP stands for Received Signal code power measured in dbm, It is measured based on received CPICH, which is transmitted continuously by WCDMA base station(NodeB).

What is a good EC No?

A composite Ec/Io ~ – 10 db is a reasonable value to consider as good. Note: See we are talking about negative values, and considering them ‘good’.

What is a good RSCP signal strength?

EC/IO is a negative dBm value. Values closer to 0 are stronger signals. RSCP – indicates the Received Signal Code Power….3G (WCDMA, TDSCDMA, CDMA, EVDO, CDMA-EVDO)

RSCP Signal strength Description
-75 to -60 Good Strong signal with good data speeds

What is EC n0?

Ec/No is the ratio between the received energy from the pilot signal CPICH per chip (Ec) to the noise density (No). In other way, we can tell, that it is the ratio of the received signal level (RSCP) to the sum of all levels of signals on the same frequency (RSSI).

What is RSCP and EcNo?

EcNo: energy per chip over the noise, a measure of the quality of the signal. RSCP: Energy after processing ie with gain from coding etc. RSSI: A dB measure of the signal arriving at the antenna before gain from processing.

What is RSCP in telecom?

In the UMTS cellular communication system, received signal code power (RSCP) denotes the power measured by a receiver on a particular physical communication channel. It is used as an indication of signal strength, as a handover criterion, in downlink power control, and to calculate path loss.

What dBm is good signal strength?

Cell phone signal strength is measured in decibels (dBm). Signal strengths can range from approximately -30 dBm to -110 dBm. The closer that number is to 0, the stronger the cell signal. In general, anything better than -85 decibels is considered a usable signal.

What is a good dBm signal?

What is the range of RSSI?

The IEEE 802.11 standard (a big book of documentation for manufacturing Wi-Fi equipment) specifies that RSSI can be on a scale of 0 to up to 255 and that each chipset manufacturer can define their own “RSSI_Max” value.

What is RSCP in UMTS?

What is good RSSI?

An RSSI closer to 0 is stronger, and closer to –100 is weaker. For best performance, you want your RSSI to be as high as possible. A useful rule of thumb is that if the RSSI is less than –70 dBm, you are unlikely to have good performance over Wi-Fi for bandwidth intensive tasks.

What is RSCP in GSM?

What is a low RSSI value?

RSSI measures the strength of a radio signal. Any RSSI value lower than -80 dBm is considered poor signal strength. Based on the client implementation some clients consider -75 dBm as poor strength as well, and will start roaming to a better Access Point, so values in the range -70 to -80 dBm are client dependent.

Is dBm the same as RSSI?

dBm and RSSI are different units of measurement that both represent the same thing: signal strength. The difference is that RSSI is a relative index, while dBm is an absolute number representing power levels in mW (milliwatts).

What is RSSI dBm?

RSSI vs dBm dBm and RSSI are different units of measurement that both represent the same thing: signal strength. The difference is that RSSI is a relative index, while dBm is an absolute number representing power levels in mW (milliwatts).
