Do you have to live on campus at U of R?
Incoming first-year students are required to live on campus and will stay in either the Susan B. Anthony Halls, Genesee Hall, or the Quad, which is comprised of Gilbert, Hoeing, Lovejoy, and Tiernan Halls. First-years are housed together and most will share a double room with another first-year student.

Can freshmen have cars at University of Rochester?
Freshmen living on campus are not eligible for a parking permit. Students living off campus are offered commuter parking permits and cannot keep their vehicle overnight. Resident student permits are issued with student class seniority taken into consideration. Resident students may park 24/7.
Does University of Rochester have single dorms?
There are double and single rooms. Rooms are carpeted. Students living in SAM may select a Group 3 meal plan as there will be kitchen facilities available.

You will not be able to select preferred roommates, join roommate groups, or self-select a housing assignment. Additionally, you are not guaranteed to receive a housing assignment, so we encourage you to consider other housing options.
