How do you wire a Trane thermostat?
The yellow wire is connected to the coil on the cooling contactor, and the other end is connected to the Y terminal on the thermostat. The white wire is connected to the relay for the electric heat, or the gas valve. The green wire is connected to the fan relay and connected to the G terminal on the Trane thermostat.
What wires go to what on a thermostat?
This is the most typical thermostat wiring style, and it applies to systems that regulate both heat and air conditioning. The wires are typically arranged as follows: red for 24-volt hot, white for heat, yellow for cooling, green for the fan, and blue for common (although the common wire may be a different color).
What is the X2 wire on a Trane thermostat?
W1 is 1st stage heat, W2 is 2nd stage heat and X2 is for Emergency Heat.
What is the D wire on a Trane thermostat?
| Thermostat Wire ID Tags or ID of Connector Terminals in a Room Thermostat | |
|---|---|
| Possible Wire ID Label or Connection Point ID Label on Thermostat | Control Function / Connection Point for This Wire |
| C | C – common 24VAC power used to power the thermostat. Trane uses B for this connection. |
| DH | DH – external dehumidifier operation |
Why are jumpers W1 and W2?
It just means the contactor/compressor is turning on. Whether that is heat or cool is actually dictated by whether or not the O/B terminal is energized. That is why, on many old thermostats, you would jumper Y1 and W1 in a heat pump application. W2 – Means second-stage heat.
Is W the same as W2 on thermostat?
W – This is the thermostat terminal for heating. This wire should go directly to the heating source whether it be a gas or oil furnace, electric furnace, or boiler. White for W Terminal. W2 – This is the thermostat terminal used for second stage heat.
Does Trane Use O or B?
| Thermostat Wire ID Tags or ID of Connector Terminals in a Room Thermostat | |
|---|---|
| Possible Wire ID Label or Connection Point ID Label on Thermostat | Control Function / Connection Point for This Wire |
| B and O together | Trane heat pump products. If not Trane, tape off B. |
Should R and C have continuity?
If the breaker is not tripped, it’s possible that the coil wires in the transformer or the thermostat wires are damaged. You’ll want to start by doing a continuity test on the R and C wires, to insure they are intact and not damaged.
Can I connect W1 and W2 together?
In a conventional system, W/W1 controls your heating system and, where applicable, W2 controls your heating system’s second stage, which helps warm the home faster. If you have a heat pump system with auxiliary heating, you’ll normally connect the AUX/AUX1 or W2 wire to the ecobee’s W1 terminal.
Can I jumper W1 and W2?
If W1 is only wired up, it will always run in 1st stage, 2nd won’t come on unless W2 is wired to a two stage t-stat, or jumper to it.
What is the common wire on Trane thermostat?
B
C – common 24VAC power used to power the thermostat. Trane uses B for this connection. In most thermostat wiring hookups the yellow wire is used to switch cooling on or off from the thermostat.
