How did ButcherBox start?
ButcherBox started with a Kickstarter campaign and $10,000 that I took out of my personal investment account. At the time, I thought that if this venture doesn’t work out, it would be a great experience and that I’d hopefully learn some valuable lessons, things that couldn’t be taught at business school.

Is ButcherBox frozen?
ButcherBox meat is delivered to your front door frozen and vacuumed packed. The first ButcherBox delivery comes with a nice black freezer bag and dry ice to ensure your package arrives to your door frozen. All boxes after that won’t have the black bag but will still be shipped with dry ice.

Omaha Steaks has a huge variety of delicious food but they lack transparency when it comes to their meat quality, USDA grading, and sourcing practices. They offer a huge amount of variety, making it a good choice for big parties. Their premade options are delicious (everything from appetizers and sides to desserts).

They’re one of the few meat delivery companies that offers American wagyu beef and, while expensive, it is absolutely delicious. We first reviewed and taste tested their meat back in 2018 and I was very impressed with the flavor and quality. However, Snake River Farms does not offer as much variety as Omaha Steaks.
How long do ButcherBox meats last?
Due to ButcherBox’s vacuum-seal packaging, our chicken can last between 3 to 5 days in the refrigerator. (If the vacuum seal is broken, stick to the standard 1-2 day recommendation for poultry.)
