What is the normal range of RFT?

The Renal Function test normal values are generally around 7 to 20 mg/dL (2.5 to 7.1 mmol/L).

Why is a creatinine test done before a CT scan?

2.2 Using POC creatinine tests before outpatient contrast-enhanced CT scans in the radiology department could minimise the risk of kidney injury. It could also reduce the number of cancelled scans, which is important for patients.

What is included in a renal function test?

Your kidney numbers include 2 tests: ACR (Albumin to Creatinine Ratio) and GFR (glomerular filtration rate). GFR is a measure of kidney function and is performed through a blood test. Your GFR will determine what stage of kidney disease you have – there are 5 stages.

Is RFT a blood test or urine test?

What does it mean if your creatinine is high?

Generally speaking, high levels of creatinine can indicate that your kidneys aren’t working well. There are many possible causes of high creatinine, some of which may be a one-time occurrence. Examples can include things such as dehydration or intake of large amounts of protein or the supplement creatine.

Is RFT done empty stomach?

A person will typically fast overnight and do the test early in the morning. Fasting helps ensure that the blood test records an accurate measure of fasting blood sugar levels.

Which injection is used before CT scan?

For some CT scans you may need to have an injection of a special dye called intravenous contrast. This helps to show up parts of the body not always clearly seen, like blood vessels, the kidneys and liver.
