Can you swim in Lonesome Lake?
Lonesome Lake is just that. You will not be lonely at Lonesome Lake because of it’s easy to get to status. It’s a quick 4-mile loop to a beautiful lake you can swim in. Dog-friendly, kid-friendly, swimming, a short distance (but a bit of a climb)…you will have some company but it’s worth the crowds.

Park at Lafayette Campground parking area off I-93 south. Trail starts at the left side of the parking lot. Follow the yellow blazed Lonesome Lake Trail. After a mile, High Cannon Trail splits to the right.

Two meals, breakfast and dinner, are served in a common dining area, and all of the huts have running water and toilets, but there are no showers or baths. The huts are manned by workers called croo, formerly called Hut Men, back in the old days when the huts were almost exclusively staffed by men.

The Flume Trail Mountain Bike Ride is a moderately difficult one way 14 mile ride at 7000′ to 8100′ feet in elevation with over a 1000′ of climbing in the first four miles and 4.5 miles of single track. The Flume Trail itself traverses above several steep sections, so those afraid of heights be forewarned.
