Is EE 5G?
We’re rolling out 5G across the UK. Check coverage at ee.co.uk/coverage before buying. Speeds vary by location, coverage and demand. 5G coverage, plan & compatible device needed.
Does EE pay as you go include 5G?
Yes, but you won’t have access to our 5G network or 5G speeds – you’ll only be able to access our 4G network and speeds. If you want to connect to our 5G network, you’ll need a 5G phone, a 5G ready plan and have 5G coverage.
How do I check signal strength in my area?
Android users have the signal strength feature hidden deep down in Settings. Go to the Settings app > About phone > Status > SIM status > Signal Strength. You will see numbers expressed in dBm (decibel milliwatts).
What network is EE using?
You could almost as well say that EE uses BT’s infrastructure as the other way around, since BT owns EE. That means there should be a level of synergy between the two networks that most MVNOs can’t offer.
Do BT and EE use the same network?
BT Mobile uses the same core network as EE, giving it excellent coverage across the UK, with over 99% population coverage with 4G. That likely puts it ahead of most rivals (other perhaps than Three), though all UK networks now have at least 99% population coverage with 4G, so the difference is negligible.
Why is EE so good?
EE is a top-class mobile network, especially if you care about having the fastest data possible. It offers higher speeds and lower latency (at least on 4G) than any rival network, as well as competitive coverage and extras, such as inclusive roaming outside the EU.
Is EE overpriced?
EE isn’t in the business of overcharging for its phones or plans, but don’t come expecting the cheapest deals. Buy an iPhone 12 at the time of writing with 40GB of monthly data and you’re looking at £49 per month over two years plus £50 upfront, making for a total of £1,226.
Why am I getting no phone signal?
Troubleshoot no signal or “no service” errors Restart your device and check for signal bars. Change Wi-Fi Calling preferences to Cellular Preferred or Cellular Only to prevent Wi-Fi Calling issues from interfering with the signal. Turn off Wi-Fi to make sure you’re using the T-Mobile network.
Is EE better than O2?
Coverage and speeds According to Opensignal’s Mobile Network Experience Report (April 2021) EE has 4G availability 95.3% of the time compared to 89.3% for O2. EE continues to be unbeatable in terms of download speeds, with a Download Speed Experience of 39 Mbps compared 17.3 Mbps for O2.
Who piggybacks on EE network?
Networks like BT Mobile, Plusnet Mobile and 1pMobile piggyback on EE’s network for coverage. It isn’t necessary to be an EE customer to get coverage from EE on your mobile phone.
Does EE have better coverage than BT?
Our verdict on coverage: “Both BT and EE use the same 5G/4G/3G/2G network and both offer 5G on all of their SIM only plans and phone contracts. There’s no difference between the two for coverage.”

What kind of coverage does eeee offer?
EE’s coverage map also shows 4G, 3G and 2G coverage. We recommend that you check coverage in your area before buying a 5G phone or plan, as 5G isn’t yet available in a lot of places.
Where can I get eeee 5G coverage?
EE 5G coverage is currently available in 62 major locations, Vodafone has 30 such locations, O2 has 56, and Three currently has 41. If you’re not in a 5G coverage area then you’ll have to rely on 4G or 3G coverage, just as you would have done before 5G launched.
How much 5G capacity does EE have?
In terms of how much 5G capacity EE actually has access to, it’s got 40Mhz of 3.4GHz spectrum and 40MHz of 3.6GHz spectrum, for 80MHz total, which is the same as O2, but slightly less than the 90MHz that Vodafone has and way below the 140MHz of 5G spectrum that Three has access to.
