The architect for the project was George William Grant. The corner stone for the library was laid on March 29, 1902 and the doors opened to the public in October 1903. The Vancouver Public Library continued to occupy the Hastings and Main site until the opening of the new central library at 750 Burrard Street in 1957.

Where is the Britannia Centre?
Located inside the Britannia Centre just off Commercial Drive and Napier Street. You will need to walk about half a block in from the street to see the building, which is at the South East corner of the complex.
