How does a power factor controller work?

The power factor controller permanently monitors the reactive power of the installation and controls the power factor. The control is done by connecting and disconnecting the power capacitor banks. When the power factor decreases, the controller activates the capacitors sequentially.

C/k is the sensitivity of the PF Controller. It is usually set equal to 2/3 of the current of the first capacitor step. It represents the threshold current value for the PF Controller to switch on or off a capacitor step. The C/k can be programmed from 0.050 to 1.00.
