How much does it cost to join the Legion?
You can join the Legion online at legion.ca/join. Online membership is $49.99 per year, and you do not have to be a Veteran to join. Any Canadian citizen or citizen of an Allied nation who is 18 years of age or older is welcome to become a member of the Legion!
What is the Legion act?
The Legion Act opens membership to all veterans with an honorable discharge who served at any point since Dec. 7, 1941 — Pearl Harbor Day. Before the law’s passage, the organization wasn’t open to veterans who served during eras not recognized as conflict periods.
Does the American Legion have life insurance?
THE AMERICAN LEGION WHOLE LIFE INSURANCE PROGRAM This plan is a guaranteed-issue, whole life plan combined with accidental death insurance. The benefits do not decrease and premiums paid at entry age do not increase, as the insured grows older. No medical exam is required.

Burial benefits available include a gravesite in any of the 131 national cem- eteries with available space, opening and closing of the grave, perpetual care, a government headstone or marker, a burial flag, and a Presidential Memorial Certificate, at no cost to the family .
What does the American Legion do at funerals?
All eligible veterans, including military retirees, are entitled to military funeral honors. At a minimum, the funeral honors ceremony will consist of the playing of taps and the folding and presentation of the American flag. At least two uniformed military personnel shall perform the ceremony.
