Who owns Waterworks Lamson?
Late in 1998, Waterworks acquired Lamson from Sage Manufacturing. Lamson reels had established a well-deserved reputation in the 1980’s and 90’s for being the first fully machined quality reel at an affordable price.
Are Lamson spools interchangeable?
Waterworks-Lamson Liquid spools are interchangeable with Remix and Remix HD spools.
Does Lamson liquid have a sealed drag?
Just like the Liquid, the Remix uses the same fully sealed, conical drag system found on every Lamson reel, and is assembled in Boise, Idaho.

What oil do you use on a fly reel?
Silicone-based lubricants, lithium-based lubricants, and graphite based lubricants all work well for fly fishing reel bearings and parts.
Can you use Lamson liquid in salt water?
The Lamson Liquid offers the best drag system on the market for a $100 price point. The fully sealed conical drag system can handle most fresh and saltwater species.
How tight should your drag be?
For best results, the drag setting should be able at the point where the line holds a third to half of its weight before moving (e.g., a 20-pound line should not move until the hook holds seven to ten pounds).
How much drag do I need for trout?
The rule of thumb is to set the drag to be about half the strength of the weakest line in the setup. For example if you are using 10 pound mainline and 6 pound leader, then the weakest line is the 6 pound leader. Half of that is 3 pounds.

The drag system in all of the Lamson/Waterworks reels consists of a pair of precisely matched conical elements which are drawn together with spring tension to produce variable rates of smooth rotational braking.
