Are Dark Angels any good?
Overall it is a good solid Marine book that can just about do whatever you want. They excel at just being good at most things while some of the other books lock into specific sections of the game. Sure they don’t assault as well as Blood Angels – but being purely Marines they still punch you well.

Dark Angels on the other hand just get to be good at everything. Their Chapter Tactic, unlike pretty much any other, is amazing in both combat and shooting. Their super doctrine, likewise is good all the time. They have access to amazing special shooting units, but also super awesome close combat units.

Can Dark Angels advance and charge?
The increase to a 4+ invulnerable save if you advance is also a nice bonus. However, the loss of Speed of the Raven, allowing you to advance and still shoot and charge, will mitigate the effectiveness of doing so, unless your unit has Assault Weapons or does not need to fire that turn.
