What is kapha pacifying diet?

Kapha diet suggests intake of lighter oils like olive oil, almond oil, sunflower oil and pure ghee. Also, favouring pumpkin and sunflower seeds is a better option over heavy nuts like cashews, pistachios and pine nuts among others.

How can I reduce kapha in my body?

Because Kapha is heavy, oily, and cold, favor foods that are light, dry, or warm. Foods with pungent, bitter, and astringent tastes are most beneficial for pacifying Kapha. Reduce foods with sweet, sour, and salty tastes.

In general, foods that are a bit heavy for kapha include hard cheeses, puddings, nuts, cakes, pies, wheat, most flours, breads, pastas, red meat, and deep fried foods, which are also excessively oily (see below). FOODS TO BALANCE KAPHA:

  1. STAY AWAY FROM FOODS THAT INCREASE KAPHA: These are foods that are sour, salty, sweet, oily or very high in protein.
  2. FRUITS: pineapple, bananas, dates, generally very sweet and sour fruits.
  3. VEGETABLES: sweet and juicy varieties of vegetable, cucumbers, squash, sweet potatoes, tomatoes, courgettes.

What should a kapha eat for breakfast?

Kaphas. Try having some fresh fruit, especially berries and pineapple or a green smoothie (no bananas and avocado). Breakfast should be on the lighter side and is actually optional. If you aren’t hungry, no need to eat.

Is ghee good for kapha?

Ghee is a yogavahi—a catalytic agent that carries the medicinal properties of herbs into the seven dhatus or tissues of the body.
