The Cache La Poudre – North Park Scenic Byway is a paved 101-mile drive among Colorado northern Rockies. It connects the towns of Fort Collins and Walden. Most of the three-hour drive is spent winding through the Roosevelt National Forest, beside the Cache La Poudre River.

Why is Glenwood Canyon closed?
Mudslides in July 2021 prompted an extended safety closure on I-70 for approximately two weeks. For spring, summer and fall 2022, CDOT continues to have an I-70 Glenwood Canyon safety protocol in place to protect the traveling public.

The Poudre River is not safe for novice recreation right now. Throughout May and typically part of June, the river flows at medium to high levels through town (higher levels up the canyon). The water is fresh snow melt which means it is ice cold and contains a great deal of debris.
