What is a tire with rivets for?

These tires will keep you upright on hard packed snow and glare ice. There are other methods for DIY ice tires (like sheet metal screws in mountain bike tires), but these ones made with pop rivets are elegant and suited to narrower tires used on hybrid/cross/touring bikes.

Can you add studs to tires?

Some winter tires include pre-molded holes to allow for metal studs. When inserted, these studs dig into ice and provide increased traction in inclement winter conditions. Depending on the season and your vehicle’s circumstance, Discount Tire is equipped to install these studs for you.

Can you stud any tire?

Only new tires that have never been driven on can be studded. Tires already driven on cannot be studded nor re-studded. This practice risks serious tire damage resulting from incorrect stud lengths and/or unseen debris (sand, cinders, salt or stones) becoming trapped under the stud in the molded hole.

Can you stud tires without holes?

Only studdable winter tires can have studs installed. These tires have been engineered with preset locations (holes) for the studs. Attempting to stud studless winter tires could cause structural integrity issues, and compromise the performance and safety of the tire.

The Slime Tire Sealant is for tubeless motorcycle tire applications and can seal punctures up to ¼-inch in diameter. The Slime Tube Sealant is for dirt bike applications with tire tubes and can seal holes up to 1/8-inch in size. It takes about 8-ounces of Slime to properly fill a motorcycle tire.

Firmly pull rivets away from face using a back and forth motion. (Using water and soap solution can lubricate the area and ease the process of removal.)

Do studded tires help on ice?

Studded tires provide the best traction you can get, even when you’re encountering ice or packed snow. Studs are lightweight, small metal spikes that are staggered across the tread. They help break through packed snow and ice-covered roads to give you better traction.

Do studded tires work on ice?

Is fix a flat OK for motorcycles?

Don’t use one of those automotive cans of tire repair goo, like “Fix a Flat,” on your motorcycle tire. You will create an unsafe riding condition and will make it much more difficult to replace the tire later.

Is tire Slime a permanent fix?

We have found in our testing that Slime and other thicker gel based tire sealants provide only a temporary repair that does not permanently seal because they lack an adhering agent.
