If you toss or roll a bomb into its mouth while it’s inhaling, the bomb explodes inside of it, which knocks off pieces of its rocky armor. With bits of its armor removed, the boss’s eye becomes exposed. Quickly take as many stabs or slashes at it as you can.
How many times do you have to hit Scaldera?
You can keep Scaldera at bay with just 10 bombs and some expert moves, but if you need more, run to the very top of the ramp and stock up. You’ll have to watch out for fireballs up here, but Scaldera will not be able to pass the Bomb Flowers on the ramp. There are Hearts up here as well.

Does the Hylian Shield break?
While the Hylian Shield has a vast amount of durability, unlike the Master Sword it’s not invincible and can break. If that happens, it won’t no longer appear inside the Hylian Castle Lockup, and instead must be purchased from a special vendor after the end of a long quest.
