ADL is 100% owned by all PEI Dairy producers who in turn supply the Co-op with its milk. ADL operates a cheese plant in Summerside PEI where 70% of the Island’s milk is processed. Dairy Isle is the newest ADL brand of cheese and can be found in retail stores across the Maritimes.

STRENGTHS AND LIMITATIONS: The Katz ADL Index assesses basic activities of daily living. It does not assess more advanced activities of daily living. Katz developed another scale for instrumental activities of daily living such as heavy housework, shopping, managing finances and telephoning.
What is a normal ADL score?
Eight factors are rated to produce an overall score on a point scale of 0 to 100. Then, an assignment is given as “excellent” for 95 to 100 points; “good” for 84 to 94 points, “fair” for 65 to 83 points, or “poor” for less than 65 points.

How is ADL calculated?
The ADL score is a component of the calculation for placement in RCS-I nursing groups. The ADL score is based upon the four “late loss” ADLs (bed mobility, transfer, toilet use, and eating), and this score indicates the level of functional assistance or support required by the resident.

How many processing and distribution facilities does ADL have?
Our head office coordinates six processing and distribution facilities. This is also the site of our main processing facility, which manufactures many dairy products including cheese. ADL Foods serves the retail and institutional market with a full line of food (including ADL dairy products) and food service products.
