What is duct in cable?

The cable duct is a channel system that keeps the electrical cables together. The cable duct enables the transmission of the cables safely. The cable duct is also referred to as wiring duct, electrical cable ducting, cable tray. The general purpose of the cable duct is to provide a clear, protected pathway for a cable.

How do you get cable through ducting?

The method works as follows:

  1. Tie the string: Tie a strong string to a long, inflexible rod.
  2. Push the rod: Push the rod through the conduit, tied end first.
  3. Attach the wire: Tie the electrical wires to the string.
  4. Pull the wire: Pull the rod and string through the conduit, pulling the wire along with them.

Common household extension cords are available in 16 gauge (smallest), 14 gauge, 12 gauge, and 10 gauge (biggest). The lower the number, the bigger the gauge and the greater the amperage and wattage is.
