What is slope W used for?
SLOPE/W is the leading slope stability software for soil and rock slopes. SLOPE/W can effectively analyze both simple and complex problems for a variety of slip surface shapes, pore-water pressure conditions, soil properties, and loading conditions.
What makes a slope stable?
Slope stability is ultimately determined by two factors: the angle of the slope and the strength of the materials on it. In Figure 15.2 a block of rock situated on a rock slope is being pulled toward Earth’s centre (vertically down) by gravity.
What is lambda in slope W?
Another iterative solution determines the interslice force factor (lambda; the ratio of the interslice shear and interslice normal forces) generating the same factor of safety for both moment and force equilibrium. (More information on the limit equilibrium method is provided in the SLOPE/W Engineering Book.)
What is Piezometric line?
Piezo Lines can be used for calculating pore pressure when the Groundwater Method in Project Settings is set to Water Surfaces. A Piezometric Line in Slide2 can represent an actual Piezometric surface obtained from piezometer measurements, for example.
What are 3 factors that make slope failure more likely?
Here are some of the common causes of slope failure:
- Steepness of the Slope. It goes without saying that the steeper a slope is, the more unstable it will be.
- Water and Drainage. Water is several times heavier than air.
- Soil Composition.
- Joints & Fractures.
What is the difference between water table and piezometric level?
In general, a Water Table refers to a Phreatic Surface (e.g. a water table in an unconfined aquifer) which represents a surface of zero pore pressure within the material. A Piezometric Surface could represent pore pressure in a confined aquifer.
What is SEEP W?
SEEP/W (SEEPage for Windows) is a finite element software product that can be used to model the movement and pore-water pressure distribution within porous materials such as soil and rock. It is formulated on the basis that flow of water through saturated soil follows Darcy’s Law.
Which software is used in geotechnical engineering?
Mir, PLAXIS and FLAC these two software are well established to obtain geotechnical engineering solution. PLAXIS is finite element based and operating in window mode easy to work.
What are the different types of geostudio licenses?
The bundled license names are as follows: GeoStudio Standard, GeoStudio Professional, and GeoStudio Universal. (The GeoStudio Basic Edition license is also a bundled license, but will be addressed in the next, ‘Limited Feature,’ section.) The Standard license includes SLOPE/W, SEEP/W and SIGMA/W.
What is the difference between a slope/w and a seep/W license?
If a SLOPE/W license and a SEEP/W license are purchased, one individual (user) can make use of both licenses on the same computer, or one user can utilize the SLOPE/W license on one computer while another works with the SEEP/W license on a different computer.
Why choose slope/w?
The SLOPE/W analyses and results were well received by the owner’s geotechnical consultant, and as a result, design and construction were approved to proceed. SLOPE/W is easy to use and saved me a lot of time while performing the analyses.
