Xanthohumol (XN; 3′-[3,3-dimethyl allyl]-2′,4′,4-trihydroxy-6′-methoxychalcone) is the principal prenylated chalcone of the hop plant (Figure ​ 1E). The yellow compound (Greek: xantho = yellow) is found in high quantities in the lupulin glands.
