Fluvoxamine is a selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor (SSRI) that is approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for the treatment of obsessive-compulsive disorder and is used for other conditions, including depression. Fluvoxamine is not FDA-approved for the treatment of any infection.
How does fluvoxamine make you feel?
Fluvoxamine may cause some people to be agitated, irritable or display other abnormal behaviors. It may also cause some children, teenagers, and young adults to have suicidal thoughts and tendencies or to become more depressed.

Tell your doctor if you notice any of the following and they worry you:
- nausea, vomiting, stomach pain, constipation, diarrhoea, heart burn, loss of appetite, dry mouth.
- drowsiness, difficulty sleeping, dizziness, nervousness, feeling anxious, headache.
- muscle weakness, muscle pains, pins and needles.
- abnormal taste.
Is faverin good for anxiety?
Randomized, double-blind, placebo- and active-controlled studies have shown that fluvoxamine is effective in patients with panic disorder (with or without agoraphobia), reducing both the number of panic attacks and the level of anxiety.
