What kind of foxes live in Texas?

There are three types of foxes that live in Texas: the swift or kit fox which lives in the north western part of the state, the red fox which lives in the eastern and central parts of the state, and the most common, the gray fox which is found statewide.

The common gray fox (Urocyon cinereoargenteus) is native to Texas and is our most common resident.

What is the difference between a red fox and a coyote?

The coyote has a much larger size, longer legs, a more muscular body, and a thinner tail. The fox, by contrast, has shorter legs, a smaller body, and a bushy tail. It also exhibits a much wider range of coat colors, including white, silver, gray, yellowish-brown, and a strong orange-red coat.

A Red Fox by Any Other Name… Both red and gray foxes mate seasonally, beginning in mid-January, and usually give birth to kits in March or April. Depending on population density and food supply, litter sizes vary between three and eight. The kits are weaned by nine weeks, and begin to hunt with their parents.

Do foxes eat skunks?

Coyotes, foxes, dogs, bobcats, mountain lions, badgers and big owls can all eat skunks but rarely do.
