Should I solder my jump rings?

Ideally, all jump rings should be soldered shut to prevent components in your designs from unhooking from each other. In practice, it can be time consuming and expensive to close every jump ring in your creations, but if you select the right size and thickness of open jump ring, it may not be necessary.

Can you solder wire to brass?

The simple answer for the moment is that brass is guaranteed to work well, it’s available and reasonably cheap. Other metals such as aluminium or regular steel can be soldered, but require special solder and flux and may need stronger equipment.

As long as the temperature of the soldering iron can reach the temperature of the solder, it can be used to solder the ring. Keep in mind that the metal also has to absorb enough heat to melt the solder.
