How long should you do TRE for?

If you are doing TRE for the first time, TRE for All, Inc. recommend you only tremor for a maximum of 15 minutes and only do TRE 3 or 4 times a week.

What does TRE stand for trauma?

TRE® or Trauma and Tension Release Exercises, is a somatic body based practice for people suffering with stress, anxiety, trauma or PTSD. It doesn’t require talking about an event, feeling or issue, therefore it overcomes the language barriers that can bring up added stress.

Is TRE scientifically proven?

The exact mechanisms of action of TRE have not been scientifically demonstrated, but it is believed that the neuromuscular tremors release deep-rooted muscular tension and that it regulates the nervous system so that a state of relaxation and calm is obtained.

Can you do TRE too much?

Are there any side effects? Yes, some people who have used TRE too much found that they became angsty, anxious and easily restless. We tend to think that “the more, the better”, but that is not the case with TRE. Part of the objective of doing TRE is learning self-regulation.

Compared to pre-intervention, improvements in physical and emotional wellbeing immediately following the intervention is clinically significant, as was further improvement in perceived stress at one and four months, with ongoing use of TRE.

What does TRE feel like? The sensation is strange, but not necessarily uncomfortable—while you can feel your legs shaking and spasming slightly, you can’t see them or anyone else in the room. You may experience lightness or a tingling sensation during or after.

How often should you do TRE?

Some people shake every day for many weeks, some people find it works fine for them just once a week or after a stressful event. TRE is self regulating tool. Experiment to find the dose and pace that works for you. Most people can learn the framework and skills in one or two sessions or groups.

Can I do TRE by myself?

TRE can be practised individually or in small groups of two or three. The practitioner will give an overview of the process: the connection between the nervous system, brain chemistry, and the vegas nerve. You will then be instructed to do six simple exercises to fatigue your muscles, particularly the psoas muscle.

  1. acknowledging your feelings.
  2. working through trauma.
