Vattakatan nairs and chakkala nairs are the same castes but Vattakatan nairs are in General caste list and chakkala nairs are in OBC list because Vattakatan nairs had sambandham relationships with brahmins while not many chakkala nairs had sambandham (Vattakkatan nairs are found in cochin while chakkala nairs are found in south kerala).
