Is alembic a pot still?

The Alembic System An Alembic Still is designed to retain and enhance flavours from your wash. While reflux condensing (like the T500) strips the flavour, the Alembic Pot Still is used where the key is to let the flavours come through the distillate, which is exactly what we want when making whiskey.

What is an old fashioned pot still?

A pot still is a type of distillation apparatus or still used to distil liquors such as whisky or brandy. In modern (post-1850s) practice, they are not used to produce rectified spirit, because they do not separate congeners from ethanol as effectively as other distillation methods.
