How does a Viking deluge valve work?

The valve is held closed by system water pressure trapped in the priming chamber; keeping the outlet chamber and system piping dry. In fire conditions, when the releasing system operates, pressure is released from the priming chamber. The Deluge Valve clapper opens to allow water to flow into the system piping.

What is trim in deluge valve?

The basic trim or type is required on deluge valve regardless of the release system. It contain those components which are required in all types of installation, such as the main drain valve, priming connection, drip check valve, emergency release valve and pressure gauges.

How do you reset a Viking dry valve?

To reset the valve, simply re-establish air pressure to the system and pressurize the valve’s unique priming chamber. In a fire condition, air pressure is lost and the priming chamber compresses allowing water to pass through the valve and into the sprinkler system piping.

How do I activate deluge?

How is a Deluge System activated? The sprinkler heads on a Deluge system are fused together and operate as one when activated. The valve is opened when activated by heat or smoke detection systems. Once activated, the water is released into the piping and out of the sprinkler heads.

What is the purpose of deluge valve?

Deluge valves are designed to deliver a large amount of water over a large area as rapidly as possible to quickly extinguish a fire.

What type of valve is a deluge valve?

system actuation valve
A deluge valve is a type of system actuation valve that is opened by a detection system that is installed in the same areas as the spray nozzles or by remote manual operation supplying water to all spray nozzles.

How do you trip a dry system?

Open a valve on the system to release the air or nitrogen. Watch the system air or nitrogen gauge and document the pressure at which the dry valve trips. Immediately close tightly the system control valve and fully open the main drain valve.

How often does a deluge system need to be trip tested?

Dry pipe, pre-action and deluge valves also need trip tests. Every five years: Systems in extreme temperatures and harsh environments, as well as gauges on all sprinkler system types, require a test every five years.

How often should dry sprinkler heads be replaced?

once every five years
Fire safety protocol recommends you get sprinkler heads replaced once every five years to prevent fire sprinkler leaks.
