Can you 3D printed keycaps?

3D printed keycaps are a newer entrant to the custom keycap market. Using 3D printer technology, a designer can now design their keycap on a computer and have their design printed without having to touch any physical materials.

Is PBT better than ABS?

ABS is a softer plastic and produces a milder, softer sound. PBT is harder and produces a more tactile sound. Neither is better, it’s up to preference, but there are a lot of fans of the sound a premium ABS keycap like GMK produces.

What is cherry profile keycaps?

Cherry profile keycaps are a sculpted keycap set that many people find comfortable to type with, they are similar to OEM profile keycaps but are shorter.

Can you FDM print keycaps?

With that said, the keycaps can print just fine on FDM printers. Translucent PLA colors aren’t completely see through. As layers get stacked on top of each other, objects will start to look more opaque . We definitely recommend using SLA for higher quality prints, especially if you want the see through look.

Is OEM taller than cherry?

Cherry and OEM profile keycaps are very similar in design and sculpt. However, Cherry profile keycaps are slightly shorter and are harder to come by when searching for custom keycaps. OEM profile keycaps are usually on many prebuilt mechanical keyboards and is probably what most people have typed on before.

What keycap profile does Ducky use?

Ducky profile is OEM profile. I recommend keeping the keyboard in a uniform profile because mixing different profile will give you a really strange feel while typing especially if you are mixing the alpha keys.

Original keycaps are expensive, even by the already premium standards of mechanical keyboards. A designer set can cost anywhere from $70 to over $100 depending on what kind of plastic it’s made out of, while some clones are as cheap as $20.
